About PAIA and POPIA
The Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (PAIA) gives you the right to request records held by Unite Atelier. The Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) gives you the right to access and correct personal information we hold about you, to object to certain processing, and to request deletion.
Records we typically hold
- Member account details (name, email, cellphone)
- Booking history for events you attended
- Correspondence between you and Unite Atelier
- Basic technical logs used for security
How to make a request
- Email the Information Officer with the subject "PAIA / POPIA request".
- Confirm your identity and the account email you use with Unite Atelier.
- Describe the records or personal information you are asking about, and what you would like us to do (access, correct, delete, or object to processing).
We will acknowledge your request within a reasonable time and respond within the periods required by PAIA and POPIA.
Self-service
Many requests can be handled instantly from the Members Lounge — you can view and update your details on the Profile Settings page, or close your account (which triggers a 30-day permanent deletion).
Regulator
If you believe we have not handled your information lawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za.
